Our Story

 

Founded in Pretoria in 2010, Stoked Fires creates premium wood-fired ovens and parrilla grills designed for performance, durability, and real fire cooking experiences.

The journey began long before that – through years of travel across Europe, the UK, and the US, where a deep appreciation developed for slow cooked food, wood-fired bread, and authentic Neapolitan pizza.  Returning home to South Africa, that same quality and experience was hard to find – which sparked a pursuit to recreate it.

After experimenting (and more than a few failed attempts) with conventional ovens, it became clear that true results required a properly designed wood-fired oven.  What followed was years of research, trial and error, and learning from traditional ovens around the world – From Italy to New York – studying how they were built and how they performed.

 

Stoked Fires was never intended to be a business.  It started with the goal of building the perfect oven.  But as friends, family, and neighbours experienced the results, demand grew organically – and a passion turned into a brand.

 

At its core, Stoked Fires is about more than just cooking.  It’s about creating moments – inspired by early memories of making pizza as a family, and the simple joy of gathering around food and fire.  Today, Stoked Fires continues to bring those experiences to homes and hospitality spaces across South Africa.
